North Olmsted has a long and complicated history. Originally part of Canada, when it came part of the US, it was called Kingston. The area wasn’t known Olmsted until 1836, when the grandson of Captain Aaron Olmsted, the man who bought the area and settled it, petitioned to change the name.
These days Olmsted is a city with strong neighborhoods and a thriving shopping district. The Great Northern Mall in Olmsted is a 1.2 million foot mall with over 130 stores.
